ME72 Design Competition

This years challenge is to build a SUMO robot. This is a type of robotic competition popular in Japan. Although I worked on this project with a team, everything in the presentation below is a reflection of my contributions to one robot within the team. This includes: ideation of robot, complete design of robot from sketches to detailed final CAD, electronics, and control systems of the robot.

The rules document is linked here; However, the best way to understand is by watching these robots in action. Below are some highlights I threw together of our sumo robot during the competition. A more complete documentary style team video is coming soon!

Below is a brief presentation which outlines the design of our sumo robot. This robot competed on March 11 at the end of Caltech’s winter quarter

Here are some images of competition and the assembled sumo robot.
